RotaryThe Elizabethtown Rotary Club met on Wednesday for a business session and heard an update on plans for the upcoming 8K Trail Run and Walk to benefit the USO of NC.

The club heard briefly from President-Elect Charlotte Smith regarding her trip to PETS (President Elect Training) weekend.

“I’m very excited about the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation,” said Smith.

She added that she was very excited to learn more about Rotary and in the near future will be sharing more about what she learned.

President Renee Horton discussed the upcoming Rotary Club 8K to benefit the USO of NC which is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the Brown’s Creek Bike Trail and Nature Park.

The club’s members recently held a work day at the Brown’s Creek Bike Trail to help get things ready for the event.

Horton updated the group on the progress of planning for the event and said an anonymous benefactor has come forward and offered to help sponsor youth that want to participate in the event.

Leinwands is offering a 25 percent discount to anyone who can show proof of participation during the week before and after the race.

Healthworks is donating the first month’s registration fee for anyone who joins the gym and registers for the race.

Folks can still register for the event by going to http://www.elizabethtownncrotary.org/ and clicking on the link to active.com. or on race day at 7 a.m. at the event.

The club also discussed the possibility of adding an additional fundraiser later in the year.
