The Elizabethtown Rotary Club met on Wednesday and made a special presentation to two fellow Rotarians.

RotaryPresentationPresident Renee Horton presented Rotarians Charlotte Smith and Anne Beyer (pictured right) with special pin backs that denoted their sponsorship of new members to the club.

Following the presentation, Rotarian Al Pingree (pictured left) gave a presentation to the group about US Embassy operations. Pingree is a retired US Marine veteran. Rotary Al Pingree

He explained how the Embassy staff are organized and what types of training and duties a Marine Security Guard would have when stationed at an Embassy.

Pingree said there are about 1,500 Marine Security Guards stationed at about 120 location across the globe. MSGs must attend a four-month long training school and are tasked with such duties as assisting in external security, internal security, disposing of classified materials in the appropriate manner, acting as couriers, acting a military liaisons, and other duties as needed.
