Rotarians Darrell Page and Erin Smith go over plans for the Elizabethtown and Bladenboro Rotary Clubs’ World War II veterans recognitions service.

The Elizabethtown and Bladenboro Rotary Clubs are planning to conduct a recognition service for Bladen County’s World War II veterans on Wednesday, May 31, at 1 p.m. at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery.  These World War II veterans have been referred to by some as the “Greatest Generation.” They left their homeland to serve around the world including such places as Europe, Africa, and the South Pacific in order to defeat Fascism and tyranny.

The Rotarians are in need of your help in locating surviving World War II veterans. Families, friends and government officials are asked to notify the Elizabethtown Rotary Club with veteran locator information. Those with information are asked to contact Rotarian Darrell Page at 910-862-4195 or Elizabethtown Rotary Club President Charlotte Smith at  910-876-5393 or mail veteran information (name, address, telephone number) to: Honor a WWII Veteran, Elizabethtown Rotary Club, Attn: Dr. Darrell Page, P. O. Box 2103, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
