The Salvation Army joined forces with Toys for Tots and other caring community members to give 80 families in Bladen County coats, clothes and toys for the holidays.

Applications were taken last year for Bladen County families in need according to Major Virginia Watts with the Salvation Army. Monday, December 14th all the gifts were delivered at the new Families First office in Elizabethtown.

According to Watts the Salvation Army provided some coats, clothes and about half the toys and Toys for Tots provided the other half of the toys. There were bicycles donated by giving citizens in five different counties along with additional toys and clothes.

The Salvation Army has a Christmas Center in Wilmington every year, but Watts said, “To make it easier for the people Bladen County we come to the county to make it easier for the families.”
