West Bladen grad Sayaun Dent was named Region 10 Player of the Week as No. 1 ranked Sandhills Community College ran their winning streak to 6 straight games.
Dent received the recognition for his performance that included a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds in a 122-90 win over Central Carolina. Dent then fired in 14 points in a 116-70 victory over Oxford Emory.
After moving back into the No. 1 spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, Dent racked up 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in Sandhills 129-70 victory over Durham’s Mt. Zion Prep Thursday.
Saturday Dent tallied 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals in Saturday’s 127-79 win over Combine Academy of Lincolnton.
Dent leads the Flyers in scoring (18.1) and rebounding (8.1). The Flyers boast a perfect 6-0 Region 10 record and are 22-2 overall. Sandhills will travel to Greensboro Monday to play the Guilford College jayvees at 7 p.m.
