ROCHESTER, MN- West Bladen grad Sayaun Dent and his Sandhills Community College Flyers finished fifth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III National Tournament last week.

The Flyers, the District 7 champions, were plagued by a cold-shooting first half in their tournament opener against second-seeded Herkimer County Community College, NY. The Generals built a 40-22 halftime lead en route to a 76-64 victory. Dent scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 24 minutes of action.

Sandhills bounced back with an 84-68 victory over Middlesex County College, NJ. Dent fired in 12 points and pulled down 8 rebounds in the victory.

In the fifth-place game against top-seeded Suffolk County CC (NY), Dent just missed a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds as Sandhills claimed an 87-78 victory.

The Flyers finished the season with a 25-9 record. Dent averaged 10.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while playing 20 minutes per game. The 6-3 freshman started 23 games and played in 33 games.
