The Pender County Sheriffs’ Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a child who may have been abducted from his home in Hampstead on Monday night.
According to law enforcement officials, Atreyu Canady, 12, was taken from his Hampstead home at about 11 p.m. last night by his mother, Ashley Marie Canady, who does not have legal custody.
She, who currently has blonde hair, is reported to be driving a dark blue 2013 Volkswagen Jetta the NC plates FBM-7409.
Deputies say Atreyu Canady was last known to be wearing black Nike Air Jordan shoes, a black-colored hoodie with the word Vans written on it, and athletic shorts. He stands 5 feet tall and weighs 130 pounds with brown hair and blue or hazel colored eyes.
Law enforcement officials report Ashley Canady may be traveling to either Fayetteville or Charlotte.
