william1Bladen County personnel are helping with a search Wednesday morning in Garland for a missing 72-year-old man.

Authorities are looking for William Earl Powell of Garland, who was reported missing Tuesday afternoon from his home on Birdy Lane in Garland, says Sampson County Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Pope. Powell is 6-feet-1, weighs 180 pounds and has green eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray denim pants and brown slip-on loafers. He has dementia and has a history of wandering off from his residence, Pope said.

Crews from Bladen, Sampson, Pender and Brunswick counties, as well as state officials, are searching for Powell around Garland and in wooded areas south of the town, Pope said.

Anyone with information about Powell’s whereabouts is asked to call local law enforcement or 911.
