Second Amendment Resolution Passes at the Bladen County Commissioners Meeting in a 6-3 Vote.

Bladen County resident, Tony Priest requested a resolution from the Bladen County Commissioners for the county to support being a Second Amendment Sanctuary. Priest also started a Petition for Bladen County, NC to become a Second Amendment Sanctuary.

The resolution means “the c will oppose possible gun control laws,” according to Priest. He explained it would also mean commissioners “would be expressing their deepest commitment in protecting the constitutional right of all citizens in Bladen County to keep and bear arms.”

The revised Resolution Declaring Bladen County North Carolina A Constitutional Rights Protected County was read aloud by Chairman Ray Britt during the meeting on Monday evening.

Priest along with another Bladen County resident, Kay Graves, stood and listed reasons for the commissioners to support the resolution during the open discussion part of the commissioners meeting. Priest sited protection against the Red Flag Laws and Graves referenced protection for women.

One resident, S. Faircloth stood asking for more understanding of the resolution.

After some discussion the 3-6 vote was made in favor of resolution. Commissioners Britt, Dowless, Gooden, Priest, Peterson, and Trivette voted in favor of the resolution. Commissioners Bullock, Cogdell and Munn-Goins voted against the resolution.

There were an estimated 170 people in attendance.
