A check was presented in December 2017. Participants in the presentation included: Adam Smith, representing Camp Clearwater, the events Premium level sponsor; Dileep Dadlani, ALS Association North Carolina Chapter; Alex Daniel, Aim for a Cure; Steven Davis, Sandra’s brother; Sandra Robbins, Steven’s Stompers; Ronald Allen, Allen Brothers Hunting Preserve.

The second annual for Bladen County Aim for a Cure with Steven’s Stompers event is planned for Saturday, May 5th, at 9:30 a.m. at Allen Brothers Hunting Preserve. Proceeds from the event will benefit the ALS Association of North Carolina.

The Bladen County AIM for a Cure founders are Alex Daniel and Sandra Robbins. Ms. Robbins is also the founder for Steven’s Stompers, an ALS awareness and fundraising team, in honor her brother, Steven Davis. He was diagnosed with ALS on April 30, 2012.

Event categories for the May event include a 3D Archery tournament, a 50-50 Tough Hunter Challenge, Kids & First Timer Zone, a practice range by Walk on Archery, and a Bigfoot Long Distance Shoot. There will also be games, door prizes, raffles and more. Following the event, there will be a live auction of selected targets and concessions will be available.

Last year, the first Bladen County AIM for a Cure event was held at the Allen Brother’s Hunting Preserve. In December 2017, Steven’s Stompers along with event coordinators for Bladen County Aim for a Cure presented a check to Dileep Dadlani of the ALS Association of North Carolina in the amount of $6,225.

Organizers said the first annual Bladen County Aim for a Cure event was so successful because of all of all of the hard work, dedication and generous donations and gifts from individuals, businesses and organizations. Allen Brothers Hunting Preserve not only hosted the first event, but they also generously hosted the check presentation event.

Many Bladen County families have been affected either directly or indirectly by ALS. The funds raised by this event go towards research to find a cure for ALS also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.  The disease causes the victim to have stiff muscles, muscle twitching and gradual worsening weakness. The victim may also have difficulty chewing, swallowing and eventually, breathing, according to Wikipedia. The disease is named for 1939 New York Yankees baseball player Lou Gehrig and was also the diagnosis for Stephen Hawking.
