Bladen County Schools announced on Tuesday an employee tested positive for COVID-19. This is the second positive case of COVID-19 among the district’s employees.

The Health Department is now investigating the case. Should close contacts be identified, individuals will be notified by the health department. We are aware of no other employee who has been tested or is awaiting test results.

“The safety and well-being of Bladen County Schools’ staff is always our number one priority,” Valerie Newton, Public Relations and Information Officer stated in a press release.

She added, “We are taking extra steps to ensure the safety of all our staff.  Bladen County Schools are following CDC and DHHS guidelines as we continue to monitor the situation. Our Board is committed to the health and safety of its employees and supports measures that will keep all employees safe.”

Bladen County Schools continues to work with Dr. Teresa (Terri) Duncan, the Bladen County Health and Human Services Director, to follow recommendations as to proactive steps we can take to ensure the safety of our employees.
