Sen. Thom Tillis collapses

North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis collapsed Wednesday morning during a race in Washington, DC. According to reports he was taken from the scene by ambulance after CPR was administered.  Several reports indicated Sen. Tillis was revived and breathing as he was taken from the scene. It is not immediately known which hospital he was taken to for treatment.

He was competing in the ACLI Capital Challenge 3 Mile Team Race. The race is touted as drawing competitors from all over Washington, DC. According to WECT, Sen. Tillis was leading his team in the race and the proceeds from the race go to charity.

Sen. Tillis, 57, is a junior senator from North Carolina and was elected to the office of Senator in November 2014. He has also served in the North Carolina General Assembly.

He is married to Susan Tillis and they have two children.
