Sen. Thom Tillis issued a video statement on his Twitter account Wednesday from the hospital saying, “I’m fine,” after collapsing during a race in Washington, DC.

Sen. Tillis was competing in the ACLI Capital Challenge Three Mile Team Race held in Anacostia Park in Washington, D.C. The proceeds from the race go to charity. According to reports, he was leading his own team in the race.
He is a junior Senator from North Carolina. He was elected to the US Senate in November 2014 and prior to being elected to the US Senate, Tillis served in the North Carolina General Assembly.
