ST PAULS – Seven Bladen County players have been named to the 2021 All-Southeastern Conference football team. Receiving all-conference honors from East Bladen were seniors Javius Brooks, Nazire Smith and Timothy McLean and sophomore Masion Brooks. Senior Damarius Robinson and juniors Deonte Lacey and Gary Parker were West Bladen’s all-league selections.

Javius Brooks

The versatile Javius Brooks started the season as the Eagle quarterback and threw for 362 yards and 6 touchdowns. After moving to running back later in the season, he rushed for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns in a key win over Midway then led the Eagle ground attack in the playoffs against James Kenan, scoring 3 touchdowns and gaining 130 yards.

Tim McLean

McLean ran for 990 yards and 7 touchdowns including a huge 314 yards and 4 touchdowns in a big win over Red Springs. He also racked up 153 yards rushing and a TD in a victory over Midway and gained 125 yards in the playoff game.

Masion Brooks

Masion Brooks who is Javius’ brother piled up 786 yards rushing and scored 11 touchdowns. Masion ran for 145 yards and a touchdown against Red Springs, 129 yards and a TD versus Midway and 104 yards and 2 touchdowns in the playoff game at James Kenan.

Nazire Smith

Smith caught 14 passes for 288 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also amassed 237 yards in kickoff return yardage and intercepted 2 passes and recovered a fumble. Against state runner-up Wallace-Rose Hill, Smith had 4 receptions for 80 yards.

Damarius Robinson

Robinson rushed for 514 yards, 6 touchdowns and 4 conversions and had 7 pass receptions for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. Big games included 188 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns against Red Springs, 106 yards rushing and a TD against East Bladen. He also had 131 yards of total offense in key win over Fairmont.

Gary Parker

Parker rushed for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Red Springs win and racked up 14 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries on defense against East Bladen. He also had 4 tackles, an onside kick recovery and a key sack in the Fairmont win. For the season he finished with 48 tackles.

Deonte Lacey (52)

Lacey anchored the Knight defensive line with 51 tackles, including 10 tackles against Clinton, 7 tackles versus Midway, 8 tackles and a sack against East Bladen, 7 tackles and a sack versus Fairmont and 6 tackles and a blocked punt in the win over East Columbus.
