North Carolina law states that “the owner of very dog and cat over four months of age shall have the animal vaccinated against rabies.” In Bladen County, the owners of dogs and cats which have not been vaccinated in accordance with the law are subject to a civil penalty of $200.

If the pet is due for a 3-year vaccine, owners are asked to bring proof of a previous vaccine.

Here is the clinic schedule:

There will be a free rabies clinic on Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Bladen Animal Hospital located at 606 Peanut Plant Road, Elizabethtown. The rabies clinic is open to both residents and non-residents.

Only dogs and cats will be seen. You are asked to have dogs on a leash and cats in safe, working cat carriers. There is no limit to the number of animals you may have vaccinated.

You must supply proof of prior rabies vaccination to receive the 3 year rabies vaccination. The rabies clinic is free. For more information, call 910-862-3960
