Bladen Community College will be offering shag lessons beginning Thursday evening, 5/21 at 6:00 PM at the Cape Fear Farmers Market. The registration fee is $20 per student. Interested participants should contact Stephanie Gonzalez at 879.5539.

Brad White is a professional shag dancer and instructor from Wilmington, North Carolina where he has been teaching group and private lessons for 13 years. As a competitor, Brad was active in both the Competitive Shag Association and Shag Preservation Association where he was consistently ranked in the top five professional males.

At the National Shag Dance Championships in Myrtle Beach, Brad and his partner won the 2004 Non-Professional division national title. Immediately afterward, he was a two-time member of the National Shag Dance Team and represented the dance in such places as the Liberty Swing Dance Championships in New York, New York; the US Open Swing Dance Championships in Anaheim, California and the US Grand National Dance Championships in Atlanta, Georgia; as well as other local events. He went on to several top-five professional finishes in the National Shag Dance Championships in Myrtle Beach as well as the US Open Dance Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. Other accomplishments include being a three-time judge at the National Shag Dance Championships Preliminaries; three-time judge at the National Shag Dance Championships Finals and once a judge at the US Grand National Dance Championships.

Brad is also a two-time past professional participant for the Shagging With the Stars charity event in Myrtle Beach as well as past professional participant in the Dancing with the Brunswick Stars.
