Bladenboro’s Shanice Jones graduated cum laude Friday from Winston-Salem State University with a degree in physical education.

Jones was featured on the WSSU Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport Studies’ Wall of Excellence and finished off her senior year with straight A’s in her final semester.

Her Personal Statement on the Wall of Excellence reads, “If at first you don’t succeed dust yourself off and try again! There is no curriculum for success – be happy with all things that you accomplish in life!”

The West Bladen grad was the 2017-2018 Miss Physical Education Major and secretary of the PEM Club at WSSU. She was also a Peer Educator of Project MAC.

Jones who played volleyball and basketball at West Bladen has served as an assistant volleyball coach for both the varsity and jayvee teams at Simon G. Atkins High School in Winston-Salem for the last two seasons.

She plans to continue in that role as well as continue her work at the Winston-Salem Recreation Department where she has been employed for the last year.

Jones is the daughter of Ms. Felicia Brown of Bladenboro and Mr. Jimmy Williams of Bladenboro.
