Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker held a promotions and retirement ceremony Friday for members of his department.
Among those receiving promotions were:
Sgt. R.J. Bailey
Cpl. Cley Carroll
Cpl Daniel Clark
Promotions presented by Capt. Jeff Bridgers
Investigator Matt Hester II
Investigator K Rodney Hester
Promotions presented by Capt. Jeff Tyler
Three members of the Sheriff’s Department recently announced their retirement, Included were:
Cpl Matt K. Dennis 20 years & 9 months
Sgt Jimmy Stanley 11 years
Sgt Charles Weathers 19 years & 1 month
Dennis and Stanley were presented their weapons. Weathers was unable to attend.
Sheriff McVicker commended all on their promotions. He said all promotions involved his command staff.
McVicker said he promised everyone would have a job when he was elected and he was keeping his word.
He also indicated retirees would remain involved with the department in a part-time position.
