Sheriff's Office holds Church Security Training Session

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office held a Church Security Training session on Monday night at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church. According to Instructor Gary Turlington, about 137 people were in attendance for the event.

The goal of the session is to introduce clergy and their congregations to a new program that will be offered by the Sheriff’s Office to churches with regards to security and safety. The Sheriff’s Office will go to any church in the county and offer the training, if invited. The training includes such things as assessing the church’s security needs as well as what to do in the event of an active shooter such as what ocurred in Charleston, SC.

Anyone who is interested in having someone come to your church to offer the training, can contact either Barry Pait or Gary Turlington by calling 910-862-6960.
