The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two suspects in an armed robbery which took place in Clarkton on Thursday night.

According to Bladen County Chief Deputy Larry Guyton, a clerk was behind the counter in the Scotchman store on U.S. 701 in Clarkton when a tall black male entered the store and pointed a gun at her.

Chief Deputy Guyton said the suspect told the clerk he was not “playing and give him the money.”

“She opened the register and he took the money. He told her to open the safe and she said she couldn’t open it,” said Chief Deputy Guyton.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, another shorter black male was standing in the hallway between the Subway store and the Scotchman. The clerk overheard him tell the Subway attendant to open the register in there. Chief Deputy Guyton said the Subway attendant was having trouble opening the register in the Subway store and the two suspects eventually left the store on foot and were seen traveling in two different directions.

“The canine was deployed but was unable to pick up a trail due to the high level of foot traffic and not having a good scent article to work from,” said Chief Deputy Guyton.

The suspects are described as two black males in their late 20s. The tall suspect was last seen wearing a grey shirt with a red shirt underneath, and a shirt over his face. He was armed with a pistol.

The shorter suspect was last seen dressed in all black attire with his face covered, as well.

No one was injured in the incident.

If you have any information regarding the suspects, you are asked to contact the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office at 910-862-6960.
