Sherry Norris Coaches Chapel Hill to Eastern Girls 3-A Title
Coach Sherry Norris’ Chapel Hill’s Lady Tigers claimed the NCHSAA Class 3-A Girls Eastern Regional Championship Saturday with a 61-41 victory over Rockingham County.
Norris, a 1971 graduate of Bladenboro High School, coached the Lady Tigers to their second state basketball title last season. Norris also coached Chapel Hill to their first state basketball championship in 1981.
The Lady Tigers improved to 24-2 with Saturday’s victory and will face undefeated Hickory (26-0) in the Class 3-A title game at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill.
Chapel Hill has won 556 basketball games under Norris’ direction. During her career as volleyball coach at Chapel Hill, Coach Norris has also coached the Lady Tiger volleyball team to 732 wins.
