Shooting In Clarkton Leaves One Injured

Bladen County Sheriff's DepartmentA shooting on Sunday evening shattered and otherwise quiet in Clarkton and left one man shot in the leg, according to Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker.

Sheriff McVicker said 21-year-old Michaaveei Brown was shot in the left thigh at a building that used to be a washerette near the Time Saver in Clarkton. Brown resides in Columbus County but has not given an address.  McVicker said a call was placed to Bladen 911 shortly after 7 p.m.

Bladen County EMS and law enforcement responded.

“When they arrived most of the people who were there when the shooting happened had left. Those who remained did not give much information to law enforcement,” said Sheriff McVicker.

Brown was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington where he remains after undergoing surgery. Brown was unable to identify his assailant or give a reason for the attack.

The investigation is continuing. Sheriff McVicker urges anyone with information on this shooting to contact the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office at 910-862-6960.
