TAMPA, Fla. – East Bladen grad Sincere Smith is currently batting .315 for the Yankees West team in the Gulf Coast League.

Smith has played in 21 games and has cracked 17 hits, scored 13 runs and has 3 doubles, a triple, a home run and 7 runs batted in. The Clarkton native has a .387 on-base percentage and a .463 slugging percentage.

On July 30, Smith lined a walk-off 2-run single in the ninth inning as his Yankees West team edged the Yankees East 4-3. In the eighth inning of that game Smith hammered a triple to center field and scored to pull the Yankees West within 3-2.

Smith reached base on a fielder’s choice and scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning on July 12 as the Yankees West nipped the Blue Jays 6-5. He also slammed a double and scored a run in the second inning of that game.

In an 8-5 victory over the Phillies West on July 18, Smith belted a single and scored twice. On June 28 the Clarkton native singled and scored, then drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

In Smith’s first game of the season, on June 26, he blasted a pinch hit grand slam home run in the ninth inning of a 10-7 loss to the Blue Jays.

Defensively, Smith has spent most of his time at second base, but has also played in left field.
