East Bladen grad Sincere Smith saw the first action of his minor league baseball career Tuesday as his Yankees West team dropped a 7-4 decision to the Phillies in Gulf Coast League action.

Smith finished 0-2 at the plate but his second-inning grounder to shortstop drove in the first Yankee run. He grounded out to secondbase in his second at-bat.

Defensively the Clarkton native played shortstop and was credited with 3 assists and a putout but was charged with 2 errors. After the first error, Smith’s throw to the pitcher caught the batter in a rundown and he was eventually tagged out to end the first inning.
