TAMPA, FL – East Bladen baseball star Sincere Smith signed a rookie contract with the New York Yankees Monday at the Yankees facility in Tampa.
It has been a whirlwind last ten days for Smith who was drafted in the 32nd round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Yankees then graduated from East Bladen High Saturday before traveling to Tampa Sunday to sign and begin his professional baseball career.
Yankee scout Billy Godwin who played a key role in the Yankees drafting of Smith was on hand for the signing. Smith will join the roster of the Gulf Coach League Yankees and is expected to be used as an outfielder.
