Thirteen East Bladen athletes and three from West Bladen will compete in the NCHSAA Class 2A Track & Field Championships Saturday morning at N.C. A&T State University’s Truist Stadium in Greensboro.

The boys long jump is scheduled for 9 a.m. and features Eagle sophomore Malcolm Bolden who has the 3rd best long jump (21 feet, 8.5 inches) in Class 2A this season. West Bladen senior ShyRon Adams is also in the event and has recorded the 5th best long jump of 21 ft. 0.5 in.

Lady Knight junior Jessalyn Vendrick has the 7th best shot put this season among Class 2A girls (33 ft. 5 in.). The girls shot put is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Senior Tinyauh Rhoda is running in the 200 meter dash and is the other Lady Knight competing in the state meet. All of the track events are scheduled for approximately 10:30 a.m.

East Bladen senior A.J. Smith will run in the 3200 meters, and senior Devin Bowen will be competing in the discus at 11 a.m.

Five East Bladen relay teams – the boys 4×800, the 4×200, and 4×100 and the girls 4×200 and 4×400 – will compete in the relays.

The Eagle boys 4×800 relay team is composed of Smith, freshman Zachary Metz and sophomores Jacob Knuth and Blaine Pope. The boys 4×200 team consists of senior Charles Brown, junior Timothy McLean, Pope and junior Zavarion Palmer. Members of the boys 4×100 team are McLean, Bolden, freshman Jayden Dailey and Brown.

The East girls 4×200 relay team features senior Aaniya Jackson, freshman Tayla Jackson and senior Aniyah McKoy and junior Azariah Rhodie. The girls 4×400 team is composed of Jackson, juniors Shaquanna Kemp and Cate DeVane and McKoy.
