There is a slight risk for severe weather developing later this morning, according to the National Weather Service Office in Wilmington.

“A warm front will move in off the ocean over the next several hours.  Temperatures will warm into the 60s and lower 70s behind this front producing an unstable atmosphere,” said Timothy Armstrong with the National Weather Service Office in Wilmington.

There is the potential for damaging winds and isolated tornadoes near the frontal boundary.

“Once low pressure moves to our north this afternoon, colder air will wrap back across the area ending the potential for severe weather,” said Armstrong.
