Adrienne Howell, a 2020 East Bladen High School graduate, is galloping toward success in her passion for horses. The daughter of Nancy and Jeff Howell from White Lake, North Carolina, Adrienne embarked on her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 19 with the inception of Adrienne’s Horse Lessons. What began as a casual endeavor quickly flourished into a thriving enterprise.

“It started as something on the side,” Adrienne recounts, “just a few students and an extra horse. But before I knew it, I had 25 students eager for lessons.”

Dr. Douglas Gensel, from Elizabeth Veterinary Clinic Inc., played a pivotal role by generously offering his facility and horses to support Adrienne’s venture. Even as a college student at St. Andrew’s University pursuing Therapeutic Equine studies, Adrienne dedicates herself to her small business, imparting lessons and a wealth of expertise gained from a lifetime of riding.

With a passion cultivated since the age of five and her first horse received at eleven, Adrienne’s dedication to horsemanship recently culminated in a remarkable achievement. Competing in the prestigious Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo in Columbia, South Carolina, Adrienne clinched third place in barrel racing, bringing home both accolades and prize money.

“Four years ago, I sat in those stands dreaming of participating in this rodeo,” Adrienne shares. Then, she was a little “burned out,” not knowing what the future would hold for her. Today, she is a prize winner and offers her talents and expertise to others.

Adrienne’s Horse Lessons cater to a diverse range of enthusiasts, from four-year-olds to senior citizens. Offering Western lessons for beginners, intermediates, and advanced riders, as well as specialized barrel racing instruction, Andrienne ensures there’s something for everyone. Lessons are priced at $45 per class for both Western and Barrel Racing sessions.

Located at Elizabeth Veterinary Clinic Inc., on 4629 US Highway 701 South, between Clarkton and Elizabethtown, NC, lessons are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 am to 6 pm, with additional sessions on Tuesday evenings. Adrienne also extends her expertise to Eureka Performance Horses in Goldsboro, NC, when she’s not in Elizabethtown.

For further details or to enroll, interested individuals can reach Adrienne at 910-874-0675 or connect via Facebook messenger at https://www.facebook.com/adrienne.howell.963.

Reflecting on her journey, Adrienne acknowledges her family and community’s support. She says it has taken a village to make her goals possible. “God always seems to answer prayers when He knows you need it most.” With her sights set on offering Equine Therapy next year, Adrienne continues to inspire through her dedication and passion for horses.
