Spread the love

Familiar faces, Glenn and Keri Robertson, have returned “home” to run Goldston’s Sandwich Shop.  The couple retired in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, but are now back cooking up those delicious burgers and sandwiches that five generations of families have enjoyed.  “We love Goldston’s Beach and carrying on my family legacy that my parents started so many years ago with Harry Womble,” said Glenn.

In 1954, Glenn’s parents M.L and Judy Robertson took over the Goldston’s Sandwich Shop.  At that time his grandmother had been running the dining room (Goldston’s Dining Room) next door which is now “The Corner Cafe at Goldston’s.” Glenn started working at Goldston’s at the age of 11, helping with Putt-Putt. By 15, he was working in Sandwich Shop helping the family.

According to the operators, the Sandwich Shop offers delicious food and a friendly atmosphere. It was added, “My Dad always said there’s always someone  better, so we don’t claim to be the best…but we’re doing our best to have consistently great food every day.”

Glen and Keri explained that with the pandemic in 2020 came many challenges, which led to their decision to shut down shop and retire. Now, in 2022, the couple is coming back out of retirement but offering the same delicious, quality food and carrying on the same family tradition. For the first time in the history of the business, Goldston’s Sandwich Shop now accepts credit and debit card payments.

Goldston’s Sandwich Shop is surrounded by other quality businesses at White Lake, and it is worth the trip. With an arcade, the Wake Shop, Dairy Queen, the Glass Bottom Bar, and lake access in walking distance, you can spend a fun summer day right there without having to go anywhere else!

The Sandwich Shop is now hiring for the summer! Those who are interested should apply in person.
