On the corner, under the only stoplight in downtown Bladenboro, you can find Bladenboro Hardware Company. Since 2005, Bladenboro Hardware Co. has had a goal to provide quality tools, feeds, seasonal plants, and much more to residents of the town and those from the surrounding area.
Tom Lancaster, owner, moved to Bladenboro in 1983, married Dianne Evers, and made Bladenboro home. Eventually Lancaster started an electrical contracting business. He stated, “Growing up on a farm, I have always wanted to own a hardware business with a touch of life-past. The building came up for sale and I bought it. The store has gone through some tough times, but it has worked its way out.”
While Lancaster is the owner, his daughter Renee McLean keeps up with the business while Jennifer Taylor, store manager, handles daily operations at the hardware store. Lancaster added, “We are currently looking for an honest and dependable part time employee for a couple of days each week, and to fill in for our manager if needed. Anyone who is interested can stop by the store and pick up an application.”
The owners and management at Bladenboro Hardware Company still have the same goal as when they started: To offer a local hardware store for the community, providing all hardware needs and more. Lancaster says, “The old saying is: ‘If you need it, we got it. If we don’t have it, we can get it. If we can not get it, it just ain’t made.’”
On behalf of the entire team at Bladenboro Hardware Co., Lancaster says, “We want to thank all of our customers that we have had for the past 16 years. Hopefully we will be able to provide their hardware needs for many more.”
Bladenboro Hardware Co. is located at 203 North Main Street in Bladenboro.
