This week’s Small Business Spotlight focuses on Thompson’s Small Engine Repair at 1109 South Poplar Street in Elizabethtown, NC. William Thompson is the owner; he started his business from scratch at his home in Lumberton. Then got the opportunity to move to Elizabethtown from his family. Now he has been open for 21 years.
Thompson’s sells and repairs lawnmowers, but they also sell and service parts. Thompson stated, “Sales and service are what we do; we do several repairs for different counties such as Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Robeson; these are just a few that come for repairs here.”
Thompson explained that his family has been in business in Bladen County for almost 60 years; his uncle came to Elizabethtown in 1963. Thompson’s uncle then opened a service shop; his cousin opened an automobile shop.
