Sincere Smith will report to the New York Yankees rookie camp in Tampa, Florida, this weekend.

Wednesday, friends and family hosted a celebration in his honor at the home of Coach Russell and Doll Priest in Elizabethtown.

Smith was recently selected by the Yankees in the 32nd round of the MLB draft.

Smith played shortstop and batted lead-off for an Eagle team that finished with a 10-8 Three Rivers Conference record and 11-10 overall mark this season. Smith was a 3-sport star at East Bladen playing football and basketball as well as baseball.

Smith is the second Eagle baseball player to be drafted in recent years by a Major League team. Saquan Johnson was drafted in the 28th round by the Texas Rangers and played four years of minor league baseball in Arizona and Washington state.
