CLINTON – Clinton capitalized on a trio of East Bladen errors in the bottom of the seventh inning to score the tying and winning runs and edge the Lady Eagles 10-9 Tuesday night in Four County Conference softball action.

Freshman Johanna Parker smashed a double to lead off the game, and junior Kaley Smith knocked her in with a double as the Lady Eagles jumped ahead 1-0 in the first inning.

Junior Majesti Corbett, Lila McDuffie, Parker and junior Faith Johnson belted consecutive singles to begin the Lady Eagle second inning. Corbett and McDuffie scored runs in the inning, and Kaley Smith launched a sacrifice fly that plated McDuffie and put East up 3-0.

Clinton rallied in the bottom of the inning with 4 runs on 4 hits and 2 errors.

Back came the Lady Eagles with 4 runs in the top of the fourth to leap back on top 7-4. McDuffie walked, and Parker cracked a single before Johnson’s fielder’s choice forced McDuffie at third.

Senior Emily Scott was hit by a pitch, and freshman Izzy Smith ripped a single to left that drove in Parker and Johnson. An error on the play allowed Scott to scored, and freshman Lorna Mendell slammed a double that scored Izzy Smith.

Two errors and a single led to a pair of Clinton runs that trimmed the margin to 7-6 in the bottom of the fourth.

Corbett led off the East Bladen fifth with a single, and Parker hammered a double. Kaley Smith and Scott cracked singles as Corbett and Parker scored to push the lead back to 9-6.

Clinton trimmed the margin to 9-8 with 2 runs in the home half of the sixth. Markaysia Hobbs batted 2-4 to lead the Lady Dark Horse hitters.

Parker slugged 2 doubles, batted 4-5 and scored 3 runs to lead the East Bladen hitters. Pitcher Kaley Smith finished 2-4 with a double and 3 runs batted in. Mendell walloped 2 doubles and had an rbi. Corbett batted 2-4 and scored 2 runs.

Scott, Johnson, McDuffie and Izzy Smith added one hit each and scored one run each. Izzy Smith drove in 2 runs, and Scott and Johnson added an rbi each.

East Bladen will host Pender Thursday night at 6:00.
