ELIZABETHTOWN – Junior Laura Davisson pitched a 3-hitter, struck out 6 batters and batted a perfect 4-for-4 with 4 runs batted in as East Bladen rallied for an 11-1 Southeastern Athletic Conference softball victory over St. Pauls Thursday night.

Freshman Hailey Ray led off the game with a double to right field and dashed home on freshman Madison Locklear’s sacrifice fly to give St. Pauls a 1-0 lead. Ray batted 2-for-3 with 2 doubles to lead the Lady Bulldog hitters.

East Bladen finally cracked the scoring column in the 3rd inning. Junior Karli Priest pounded a 1-out double to left field, and Davisson knocked her in with a single to right. Junior Emma Turbeville reached base on an error as Davisson scored to vault the Lady Eagles ahead 2-1.

Freshman Gabriella Bray reached base on an error after 2 were out in the Lady Eagle 4th inning. Freshman Martha Simmons swatted a single to center, and Priest walked. Davisson hammered a double to left that scored Bray and Simmons, and an error on the play scored Priest. Turbeville was hit by a pitch, and senior Mariah Smith slammed a double to left-center that scored Davisson and Turbeville as the lead grew to 7-1.

The Lady Eagles closed out the game on the mercy rule with a 4-run, 5th inning. Bray was hit by a pitch, and Simmons laced a single to center field. Priest yanked a single to left that scored Bray, and Davisson’s infield hit brought home Simmons. Priest darted home on a wild pitch, and Smith’s fielder’s choice scored Davisson with the game-ending run.

Davisson had the double and also scored 3 runs for the Lady Eagles. Priest finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, 3 runs scored and an RBI. Smith turned in a 2-for-4 game with a double and 3 RBIs. Simmons batted 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Junior Maegan Burney added a single, Bray scored twice, and Turbeville scored a run.

Coach Chris Davisson’s Lady Eagles moved into 2nd place with a 6-2 SAC-7 record and 8-6 overall mark. East Bladen will host league-leading Midway in their next game on April 26.
