ELIZABETHTOWN – Freshman Kayleigh Raynor pitched a 6-hitter and struck out ten batters to lead East Bladen to a 12-4 Three Rivers Conference softball victory over South Robeson Friday night.

Raynor walked two, hit a batter and only one of the Lady Mustang runs was earned.

Junior Olivia Hollingsworth drew a lead-off walk in the second inning and eventually scored on a wild pitch to put the Lady Eagles in front 1-0.

South Robeson turned an error, a hit and a fielder’s choice into the tying run in the third inning.

East Bladen went back on top with 2 runs in the home third. Raynor walked, and junior Erica McKoy beat out an infield hit. Raynor stole third and raced home on Hollingsworth’s fielder’s choice. McKoy darted home on a wild pitch.

Junior Anna Kate White was hit by a pitch to begin the East fourth inning and advanced on a wild pitch and a fielder’s choice. Senior Faith Johnson walked, and White stole home.

Raynor forced Johnson at second, but McKoy lined a single to centerfield and Raynor scored on a throwing error on the play to pad the lead to 5-1.

Two singles sandwiched around an error produced a South Robeson run in the fifth inning.

Freshman Alyssa Futrell drilled a single to centerfield to start the East Bladen fifth. Hollingsworth walked, and sophmore Lorna Mendell was hit by a pitch. White walked to force home Futrell. Hollingsworth and Mendell scooted home on wild pitches to up the margin to 8-2.

The Lady Mustangs tallied a run on two hits in the sixth inning.

Sophmore Johanna Parker smacked a single to right field in the Lady Eagle sixth. Futrell walked, and Parker stole home. Hollingsworth walked, and Mendell clobbered a double over the centerfielder’s head that scored Futrell.

Hollingsworth sprinted home on a wild pitch, and Mendell scored to push the lead to 12-3.

A misplayed fly ball led to a South Robeson run in the final inning.

McKoy batted 2-3 with a run scored to lead the Lady Eagle hitters. Mendell slammed the double, and Parker, Futrell, and Hollingsworth collected one hit each.

Parker, Hollingsworth, Mendell and White drove in runs. Hollingsworth scored 3 runs, Futrell, Raynor and Mendell scored 2 runs each. Parker and White scored one run each.

Coach Chase Lancaster’s Lady Eagles improved to 8-9 in league play and 9-10 overall. East Bladen will host rival West Bladen Friday night.
