East Bladen High SchoolROSE HILL – East Bladen scored in every inning Tuesday night and defeated Union 12-8 in Four County Conference softball action.

Freshman Johanna Parker led off the game with a single and scored the first Lady Eagle run, but the Lady Spartans answered with 3 runs in the home half of the first.

Freshman Abby Cross walked in the second inning and raced home when junior Majesti Corbett slammed a double to left-field that whittled the Union lead to 3-2.

Junior Faith Johnson and freshman Izzy Smith drew walks in the Lady Eagle third inning, and sophomore Anna Kate White was hit by a pitch. Corbett walked to force home Johnson and tie the game 3-3.

Senior Emily Scott clobbered a triple to right-field in the fourth inning, and winning pitcher Kaley Smith knocked her in with a single. Johnson walked, and Smith eventually scored to put East Bladen up 5-3.

Cross walked again to start the fifth inning, and Corbett was hit by a pitch. Cross came around to score and push the lead to 6-3, before Union closed the gap to 6-5 with 2 runs in the home half.

Kaley Smith walked, and Izzy Smith beat out an infield hit to begin the East Bladen sixth. White and Cross drew walks that forced home Kaley Smith. Corbett’s infield hit plated Izzy Smith, and sophomore Ja’Tyra Moore Peterson laced a single to right-field that scored White and Cross to push the lead back to 10-5.

Union answered with 3 runs in the home half to trim the margin to 10-8. In the top of the seventh, Kaley Smith and Johnson connected for singles, and White cracked a single that scored Kaley Smith and an error on the play scored Johnson.

Corbett batted a perfect 2-2 with a double and 3 runs batted in for the Lady Eagles. Kaley Smith finished 2-4 at the plate with an rbi and 3 runs scored. Scott blasted the triple and scored a run.

Parker, Johnson, Izzy Smith, White and Moore-Peterson connected for one hit each. Moore-Peterson drove in 2 runs, and Cross had an rbi. Cross scored 3 runs, and Izzy Smith scored twice. Parker, White and Johnson scored one run each.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 4-9 in league play and 6-10 overall. East Bladen will travel to West Bladen Thursday at 6 p.m.
