FAIRMONT- Sophmore Kayleigh Raynor pitched a 5-hitter to lead East Bladen’s Lady Eagles to a 16-1 Three Rivers Conference softball victory over Fairmont Tuesday night.

Raynor struck out three and walked only one. A walk, a single and two stolen bases produced the only Lady Tornado run in the fifth inning.

Raynor lined a single to centerfield to start the game, stole second and third base and dashed home on a wild pitch. Senior Erica McKoy and junior Johanna Parker drew walks, and McKoy stole third base and home. Parker sprinted home on a passed ball for a 3-0 East Bladen lead.

Sophmore Alyssa Futrell and junior Abbie Cross drew walks to begin the Lady Eagle second inning. Raynor hammered a double to centerfield that scored Futrell, and Cross also scored on the play. An error on McKoy’s fly ball plated Raynor. McKoy stole two bases and scooted home on Parker’s fielder’s choice to pad the lead to 7-0.

Junior Lorna Mendell led off the Lady Eagle third with a single, senior Anna Kate White was hit by a pitch, and Futrell and Cross drew walks to force home Mendell. Raynor was hit by a pitch to force home White. McKoy delivered an infield hit that scored Futrell.

Cross scampered home on a passed ball, and freshman Mariah Smith ripped a single to left that scored Raynor. Senior Olivia Hollingsworth and Mendell were both hit by pitches to force home McKoy. Hollingsworth scored on a passed ball to stretch the East lead to 14-0.

Raynor reached on an error in the fifth inning, and McKoy smashed a triple to centerfield that scored Raynor. An error brought home McKoy to increase the lead to 16-0.

Raynor batted 2-3 with the double, 3 runs batted in and 4 runs scored. McKoy finished 2-3 at the plate with the triple, 2 rbi’s and 4 runs scored. Smith and Mendell connected for one hit each. Futrell and Cross scored 2 runs each. Parker, Smith, Mendell and Cross had one rbi each.

Kaitlyn Hunt batted 2-3 with a double to lead the Lady Tornado hitters. Pitcher Santana Anderson clubbed a double.

Coach Chase Lancaster’s Lady Eagles evened their record at 2-2 and will host St. Pauls Friday night.
