RED SPRINGS –Senior Karli Priest pitched a no-hitter and struck out 7 batters Tuesday night to lead East Bladen to a 17-0 Southeastern Athletic Conference softball victory over Red Springs. A hit batter in the 1st inning and an error in the 5th accounted for the only Lady Red Devil baserunners.

Sophomore Martha Simmons swatted a single to right-center field in the 2nd inning, stole 2nd base and sprinted home on Gabriella Bray’s single to center field with the 1st Lady Eagle run.

Freshman Cabria Baldwin started the East 3rd inning with an infield hit, stole a base and raced home as senior Laura Davisson reached base on an error. A wild pitch and freshman Niyah Wooten’s fielder’s choice plated Davisson.

Freshman Jenna Brice walked, and Simmons walloped a double to left-center field. Bray knocked in Brice and Simmons with a single to center. Senior AnnaGrey Heustess reached base on an error that scored Bray and pushed the lead to 6-0.

Baldwin walked, and Davisson reached on an error to start the Lady Eagle 4th inning. Wooten reached on an error that scored Baldwin and Davisson. Brice reached on a passed 3rd strike, Simmons ripped a single to center that plated Wooten and Brice.

Bray walked, and sophomore Mollie Tolar reached on an error that scored Simmons. Heustess smacked a single to right that scored Bray and Tolar. Priest reached on a fielder’s choice, and Baldwin ripped a single to center that scored Priest. Baldwin dashed home on a wild pitch to stretch the lead to 15-0.

Bray legged out an infield hit in the 5th inning, and Heustess reached on an error that scored Bray. Priest walked, and junior Kemora McMillian beat out an infield hit that brought home Heustess.

Simmons finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and 3 runs scored, Bray batted 3-for-3 with a walk, 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Baldwin was 2-for-3 with a walk, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. Wooten singled, scored a run and had an RBI. Heustess cracked a 2-run single. Tolar, Davisson and Brice scored 2 runs each. Priest walked twice and scored a run. McMillian singled and had an RBI.

Coach Chris Davisson’s Lady Eagles improved to 5-4 in the SAC-7 and 9-10 overall. East Bladen will host South Brunswick Wednesday night in a non-conference game.
