East Bladen’s Lady Eagles blanked Union 17-0 Tuesday night in a Four County Conference softball game that was stopped after one inning by mutual agreement of the two coaches.

The Lady Eagles scored the 17 runs on 7 hits, 9 walks, and 2 hit batters in the first inning. Senior Miller Heustess struck out the side in the bottom of the first in her only inning in the circle to pick up the win.

Sophmore Kaley Smith slammed a double to lead off the East first inning. Freshman Anna Kate White, Heustess, and sophmores Faith Johnson and Shardajah Brown all drew walks.

Senior Lauren Merritt hammered a triple to clean the bases, and freshmen Olivia Hollingsworth and Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson drew walks, before Smith walloped her second double of the inning.

White was hit by a pitch, and Heustess, junior Emily Scott and Johnson connected for back-to-back-to-back singles. After Brown’s fielder’s choice, Merritt belted a single, and Hollingsworth, Moore-Peterson, Smith and Heustess all drew walks. White was hit by a pitch again.

Smith batted 2-2 with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored. Merritt finished 2-2 at the plate with the triple and 2 runs scored.

Heustess, Scott and Johnson added one hit each. Moore-Peterson, Hollingsworth, Brown, Johnson, Heustess and White scored 2 runs each.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 2-3 in league play and 3-4 overall. East Bladen will host Wallace-Rose Hill Thursday at 6 p.m.
