East Bladen High SchoolRED SPRINGS – Senior pitcher Kaley Smith pitched a 2-hitter as East Bladen rolled to an 18-4 Three Rivers Conference softball victory over Red Springs Wednesday night.

The Lady Eagles jumped in front with a 4-run first inning. Freshman Kayleigh Raynor was hit by a pitch to start the game, and junior Erica McKoy, sophomore Johanna Parker, freshman Alyssa Futrell, and sophomore Abbie Cross drew walks.

Junior Anna Kate White reached base on an error, and Raynor, McKoy, Parker and White scored runs in the inning. Red Springs scored a run in the bottom of the inning to shrink the East Bladen lead to 4-1.

Raynor led off the Lady Eagle second with a single. McKoy walked, and Smith slapped a single to rightfield that scored Raynor. Senior Faith Johnson reached on a hit.

White laced a double to rightfield that scored McKoy and Smith and padded the East lead to 7-1. Red Springs trimmed the margin to 7-3 in the bottom of the second.

Futrell was hit by a pitch to begin the Lady Eagle third inning. Cross and junior Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson drew walks. Raynor reached base on an error as Futrell and Cross scored. McKoy’s sacrifice fly scored Raynor as the East lead grew to 10-3.

Red Springs scored a run in the home third, but East Bladen exploded for 8 runs in the top of the fourth. Parker walked and Johnson reached base on an error. White was hit by a pitch, and Futrell’s infield hit plated Parker.

Cross and Moore-Peterson drew walks that forced home Johnson and White. Raynor hammered a double to centerfield that scored Futrell, Cross and Moore-Peterson.

McKoy walked, and Johnson raked a single to left that scored Raynor. White reached base on an error that scored McKoy.

Raynor batted 2-3 with 3 runs batted in and 4 runs scored. White doubled in 2 runs and scored two. Smith, Futrell and Johnson cracked rbi hits. Futrell, McKoy and Cross scored 3 runs each.

Moore-Peterson, Cross and McKoy had one rbi each. Parker and Moore-Peterson scored 2 runs each. Johnson and Smith scored one run each.

The victory was the first of the season for Coach Chase Lancaster’s Lady Eagles who will host West Columbus Friday.
