CLINTON – Senior Laura Davisson pitched a 1-hit shutout and struck out 6 batters, and East Bladen pounded out 13 hits in 3 innings to claim a 20-0 Southeastern Athletic Conference softball victory over Clinton Friday night.

Davisson walked freshman Carmella Carlton and gave up a single to senior Avery Evans with 1 out in the Clinton 1st inning. She then retired the next 8 batters that she faced.

Senior Karli Priest was hit by a pitch, and freshman Cabria Baldwin walked to start the game. Freshman Niyah Wooten beat out an infield hit that scored Priest. Freshman Jenna Brice’s infield hit plated Baldwin, and sophomore Martha Simmons drilled a single to right-center field that scored Wooten.

Sophomore Gabriella Bray walked, sophomore Mollie Tolar’s infield hit scored Brice, and an error on the play scored Simmons. Priest reached on an error that brought home Bray and Tolar, and Baldwin hammered a single to right that scored Priest for an 8-0 East lead.

Brice drilled a double to right-center field in the 2nd inning. Simmons rapped a single to center field that scored Brice, and Bray laced a single to right-center field. Simmons scooted home on a wild pitch, and Tolar reached on an error that scored Bray for an 11-0 Lady Eagle lead.

Wooten singled then dashed home as Brice reached on an error to begin the 9-run East 3rd inning. Simmons walloped a double to left-center field that scored Brice. Bray walked, and Tolar belted a single to center that scored Simmons. An error on the play plated Bray.

Senior AnnaGrey Heustess reached on an error as Tolar scored. Priest walked, and Baldwin blasted a triple that scored Heustess and Priest. Davisson slugged a triple that brought home Baldwin then darted home on a wild pitch with the final run.

Simmons batted 3-for-3 with a double, 3 runs scored and 3 runs batted in. Tolar finished 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Brice was 2-for-3 with a double, 3 runs scored and 1 RBI. Baldwin batted a perfect 2-for-2 with a triple, 2 walks, 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs.

Wooten finished 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Davisson tripled, scored a run and had 1 RBI. Bray singled, walked twice and scored 3 runs. Priest walked, was hit by a pitch and scored 3 runs. Heustess scored a run.

Coach Chris Davisson’s Lady Eagles evened their SAC-7 record at 2-2 and are 4-5 overall. East Bladen will travel to rival West Bladen Tuesday night.
