Junior Lacey Suggs used her speed to manufacture the winning run in the top of the seventh inning as East Bladen rallied to claim a 3-2 Four County Conference victory at Midway Tuesday night.

Suggs beat out a bunt single in the seventh inning, stole second base and dashed to third on senior Lexi Dawson’s infield hit. When the throw to first base on Dawson’s hit skipped past the first-baseman, Suggs darted home with the go-ahead run.

Midway scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles tied the game 2-2 in the top of the sixth. Junior Abby Ward belted a single to start the inning. Dawson followed with a single, and senior Abbey Norris cracked a single to load the bases.

Junior Miller Heustess knocked in Ward with a single, and Dawson raced home with the tying run on sophomore Emily Scott’s fielder’s choice.

Heustess pitched the complete game victory for East Bladen, striking out 2 and walking none. Only one of the Midway runs was earned.

Dawson topped the East Bladen hitters with a 3-4 game and a run scored. Suggs finished 2-3 at the plate, stole 3 bases and scored a run.

Scott, Heustess, senior Anna Brewer, Norris and Ward connected for one hit each as the Lady Eagles racked up ten hits. Heustess and Scott drove in one run each, and Ward scored a run.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 7-1 in Four County play and 11-2 overall. The Lady Eagles will travel to Clinton Friday.
