CERRO GORDO – Freshman Kayleigh Raynor pitched a 6-hitter and struck out 8 batters to lead East Bladen’s Lady Eagles to a 6-2 Three Rivers Conference softball victory over West Columbus Tuesday night.

Junior Erica McKoy laced a single to left in the East Bladen first inning, and sophmore Johanna Parker clubbed a double to left. Freshman Alyssa Futrell knocked in McKoy and Parker with a double to leftfield for a 2-0 East lead.

Pitcher Leah Floyd led off the home first with a triple but was tagged out trying to score by Raynor on a throw from catcher McKoy.

Junior Anna Kate White was hit by a pitch to begin the Lady Eagle second. Sophmore Abbie Cross beat out a bunt single, and Raynor slammed a double to left that scored White and Cross. Raynor darted home on a wild pitch for a 5-0 lead.

White and senior Faith Johnson smacked singles in the East Bladen third inning, and sophmore Lorna Mendell drew a walk. Cross’ infield hit scored White for a 6-0 lead.

Brittney Barnhill who batted 2-2 to lead the Lady Viking hitters scored the first West Columbus run. Catcher Kristen Meares slugged a solo home run in the sixth inning for the other Viking run.

Cross batted 3-3 with a run scored and a run batted in to lead the East Bladen hitters. McKoy finished 2-3 at the plate with a run scored. Futrell walloped 2 doubles and drove in 2 runs. Johnson batted 2-4 at the plate.

Raynor doubled home 2 runs and scored a run. Parker doubled and scored. Mendell, White and senior Kaley Smith added one hit each. White scored 2 runs.

“We played very well as a team,” said East Bladen Coach Chase Lancaster. “No errors was great to see.”

East Bladen will travel to Fairmont Friday night.
