ROCKY POINT – East Bladen rallied with 6 runs in the seventh inning to defeat Heide Trask 9-6 Wednesday night in Four County Conference softball action.

Senior Emily Scott and freshman Izzy Smith reached base on errors with one out in the seventh to start the Lady Eagle rally. Freshman Lorna Mendell hammered a triple that scored both runners, and junior Majesti Corbett was hit by a pitch.

Sophmore Anna Kate White’s sacrifice plated Mendell with the go-ahead run. Sophmore Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson smacked a single, and freshman Johanna Parker slammed a double that plated Corbett. Junior Faith Johnson smashed a double that scored Moore-Peterson and Parker for a 9-5 East Bladen lead.

Scott batted 3-4 with a triple, 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to lead the East Bladen hitters. Mendell finished 2-2 at the plate with a triple, 2 rbi’s and a run scored.

Parker doubled, scored 3 runs and drove in a run. Johnson doubled and drove in 2 runs. Izzy Smith, Corbett and Moore-Peterson added one hit each and all of three of them scored a run. White had one rbi.

Junior Kaley Smith scattered five hits in pitching the victory for the Lady Eagles.

Parker was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and raced home Scott blasted a triple. Trask bounced back with 2 runs in the second, one in the third and 2 more in the fourth to take a 5-1 lead.

Parker was hit by a pitch again to begin the fifth inning, and Scott knocked her in with a single. Scott stole a base and sprinted home when Izzy Smith belted a single to trim the Trask lead to 5-3.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 3-7 in league play and 5-8 overall. East Bladen will host Wallace-Rose Hill Friday on Senior Night at 5 p.m.
