LAKE WACCAMAW – East Columbus defeated West Bladen 13-1 Friday night in Three Rivers Conference softball action.
The Lady Gators scored two runs in the first inning, and Diamond Porter’s bases-loaded double keyed a 4-run second inning.
Porter finished 2-3 at the plate with the 3-run double. Teammate Rodsalind Harper batted 2-3. Caitlyn Andrews and Alanna Deal cracked 2-run singles. Freshman Hannah Andrews pitched a 4-hitter for the Lady Gators.
West Bladen scored their run in the fourth inning. Junior Carley Dawson belted a single to centerfield, and pitcher Madison Collins laced a single to rightfield. Carley Dawson scored on a wild pitch.
Sophmore Alara Cashwell, Carley Dawson, Collins and freshman Alyssa Suggs contributed one hit each to the Lady Knight attack.
“Too many errors and not enough hits,” said West Bladen Coach Pam Stephens.
The Lady Knights, now 7-5 in conference play and 8-8 overall, will host South Robeson Tuesday night.
