Midway rode a 6-run third-inning to a key 11-2 Four County Conference softball victory at West Bladen Tuesday night.

The Lady Raiders moved into a third-place tie in the league with the Lady Knights. The two teams are also tied for the top Class 2A play-off spot from the Four County.

Consecutive singles by J. J. Sankey, Hannah Lucas and Kayley Hawley produced a pair of Midway runs in the second inning.

The lead grew to 8-0 as the Lady Raiders bunched 4 singles, 2 walks and a pair of errors for 6 runs in the third inning.

West Bladen pushed across a run in the home half of the third. Junior Kassidy Anderson was hit by a pitch with one out, and junior Laikyn Pait knocked her in with a single.

After Midway scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, West Bladen pushed across a run in the bottom of the sixth. Junior Alanna Ludlum led off the inning with a single, and freshman Carley Dawson hammered a double to drive her in.

Dawson’s run-scoring double led the Lady Knight hitters, and Pait delivered the run-scoring single. Anderson and junior Logan Autry contributed one single each, and Anderson and Ludlum scored a run each.

Junior Sophia Singletary went the distance in the circle for the Lady Knights and recorded one strike-out, a walk and two hit batters.

Hawley batted 4-5 to lead the Midway hitters, and Lucas finished 3-4 at the plate. Leah Williams and Laura Person added 2 hits each.
