DUNN – Midway capitalized on 4 West Bladen errors to score 6 runs in the 5th inning and overcome a 2-1 deficit en route to an 8-2 Southeastern Athletic Conference softball victory.

The Lady Knights took a 2-1 lead into the 5th inning, but a 1-out fly ball was misplayed and Rylie Williams and Cassidy King cracked singles to tie the game. Two walks and two more West errors helped vault Midway into a 7-2 lead.

Kennedy singled home a Midway run in the 1st inning, before West rallied with 2 runs in the 4th inning. Sophomore Gracie Faircloth laced a single to left, and sophomore Emmee Ward walked. Junior Rylee Chadwick knocked in both runners with a double to left-center field.

Faircloth batted 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Lady Knight hitters. Chadwick slammed the 2-run double. Senior Jessalynn Vendrick hammered a double, and juniors Kaitlynn Brisson and Mackenzie Singletary and Ward collected 1 hit each. Ward also scored a run.

King batted 2-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored to lead the Lady Raiders. Krista McLean smashed a triple and scored a run. Sarah Autry scattered 8 hits, walked 2 and struck out 6 to pick up the victory.

Chadwick pitched 5-plus innings for West and allowed 8 runs – 2 earned – on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out five. Junior Madison Taylor threw 1 scoreless inning of relief allowing 1 hit while striking out two.

Midway solidified its hold on 1st place in the SAC-7 with a 7-0 record, while 2nd place West Bladen drops to 7-2 and 8-10 overall. The two teams will play again Thursday at West Bladen.
