ST PAULS – St. Pauls scored 3 runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to pull out an 11-7 non-conference softball victory over East Bladen Thursday night.

Walks to Kaley Smith, Faith Johnson, Miller Heustess and Anna Kate White and a passed ball produced a pair of first inning runs for the Lady Eagles with Smith and Johnson scoring the runs.

St. Pauls tied the game in the bottom of the inning without the benefit of a hit.

In the second inning Shardajah Brown drew a lead-off walk, and Smith was a hit by a pitch. Both Brown and Smith came around to score on an error as the Lady Eagles went back up 4-2.

The Lady Bulldogs answered with 2 runs on 2 hits and an error in the bottom of the inning to tied the game 4-4.

St. Pauls took a 5-4 lead in the fourth on a hit and an error.

White reached base on a passed third strike in the fifth inning, and Brown knocked her in with a single that tied the game 5-5.

The Lady Bulldogs used two errors and two passed balls to take an 8-5 lead in the home half of the fifth.

Smith started the sixth inning with a single, and Johnson was hit by a pitch. Junior Emily Scott reached on a fielder’s choice as Johnson was forced at second. Heustess walked and White was hit by a pitch. Smith and Scott both scored runs to trim the St. Pauls lead to 8-7.

An error, a walk and Danielle Gray’s 3-run homer stretched the Lady Bulldog lead to 11-7 in the sixth inning.

Heustess went the distance in the circle for East Bladen and allowed 4 hits, while striking out five.

Smith batted 1-2 and scored 3 runs for the Lady Eagles. Brown finished 1-3 at the plate and scored a run. White, Johnson and Scott scored one run each for East.
