TEACHEY – Wallace-Rose Hill slugged 4 home runs Tuesday night and outscored West Bladen 12-10 in a battle for first place in the Four County Conference softball standings.

The Lady Knights struck first with the long ball as senior Alanna Ludlum walloped a first-inning home run for a 1-0 lead.

Back came the Lady Bulldogs with 6 runs in the bottom of the first. Ellen Casteen launched a 3-run homer, and after a pair of 2-out errors prolonged the inning, Angel Pearsall and Ella Smith cracked run-scoring singles.

The Lady Knights answered with 3 runs in the second. Sophmores Carley Dawson and Conner Brisson smacked singles, and senior Jenna Dove walked. Freshman Kyla Reed cleaned the bases with a 3-run double that narrowed the lead to 6-4.

Senior Laikyn Pait blasted a solo home run in the West Bladen third to whittle the Wallace lead to 6-5.

Sara Darling clubbed a solo home run in the home third, and the Lady Bulldogs tacked on 2 more runs in the fourth. Haley Rivenbark delivered a run-scoring single, and Darling poled a 2-run homer that stretched the lead to 10-5.

Senior Logan Autry led off the Lady Knight fifth with a single, and Carley Dawson laced a 2-out single. After pitcher Sophia Singletary walked, Brisson slammed a 3-run triple that scored Autry, Carley Dawson and Abby Dawson, the courtesy runner for Singletary. The 3-run triple sliced the lead to 10-8.

Haven Williams’ run-scoring single padded the Wallace lead to 11-8, but West Bladen scored twice in the sixth to pull within 11-10. Reed drilled a double and raced home on Autry’s single. Autry stole second base, went to third on a throwing error and darted home on Ludlum’s sacrifice fly.

Rivenbark clubbed a home run to lead off the sixth inning. Williams led the Lady Bulldogs with 3 hits. Tori Mobley, Rivenbark, Darling, Smith, and Andrea Murray connected for 2 hits each.

Reed batted 2-3 with a double, 3 runs batted in and a run scored to lead the Lady Knight hitters. Brisson finished 2-4 at the plate with a triple, 3 rbi’s and a run scored. Pait batted 2-4 with a home run, an rbi and a run scored.

Carley Dawson was 2-4 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Ludlum batted 2-4 with a home run, an rbi and a run scored. Autry finished 2-4 at the plate with an rbi and 2 runs scored. Dove singled and scored a run, and Abby Dawson scored a run.

The Lady Knights are now 5-1 in Four County Conference play and 10-2 overall. West Bladen will host Heide Trask Friday at 6 p.m.
