DUBLIN – Senior Logan Autry and sophmore Carley Dawson cracked 2 hits each to lead West Bladen to a 10-0 Four County Conference softball victory over Clinton Friday night.

Senior Sophia Singletary scattered 4 hits over 5 shutout innings to raise her pitching record to 7-1. “Sophia did a solid job on the mound and controlled the game for us,” said Lady Knight Coach Joey Autry.

West Bladen took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Sophmore Conner Brisson drew a lead-off walk and raced to third base when Autry laced a single to left-centerfield. Senior Alanna Ludlum’s sacrifice fly to leftfield plated Brisson.

Singletary reached second base on a pair of errors in the second inning. An error on junior Madison Collins’ grounder scored Alise Pait, the courtesy runner for Singletary, and padded the lead to 2-0.

Ludlum yanked a 2-out double down the leftfield line in the third inning, and an error on senior Laikyn Pait’s pop-up scored Ludlum. Carley Dawson ripped a single to left that brought home Laikyn Pait for a 4-0 lead.

In the West Bladen fourth, Collins and senior Jenna Dove both reached base on errors, and both moved up on junior Abby Dawson’s sacrifice bunt. Brisson swatted a double over the firstbaseman’s head that scored both runners. Autry sliced a triple into the rightfield corner that scored Brisson for a 7-0 lead.

Carley Dawson poked a single to rightfield to start the fifth inning, and Singletary reached base on an error. Collins smoked a single through the middle that scored Carley Dawson, and Alise Pait, Singletary’s courtesy runner, sprinted home when the centerfielder bobbled the ball.

Dove lashed a double to right-centerfield that brought home Collins with the game-ending run.

The Knights managed 8 hits against Clinton freshman pitcher Hailee Stone. “Clinton is stronger than last year,” said Coach Autry. “We were out in front of the ball and kept popping it up.”

The Lady Knights were missing two players due to school events and one due to injury. “We were a little short-handed tonight,” continued Coach Autry. “But this shows we have some quality depth. This was a good win for us.”

Logan Autry batted 2-3 with the run-scoring triple. Carley Dawson finished 2-3 at the plate with a run batted in and a run scored. Brisson had the 2-run double and scored 2 runs.

Ludlum doubled, scored a run and had an rbi. Dove added an rbi double and a run scored. Collins singled and scored 2 runs. Alise Pait scored twice, and Laikyn Pait scored a run.

The Lady Knights improved to 4-0 in league play and 8-1 overall. West Bladen will travel to Midway Tuesday night for a 6:00 game.
